Types of research? Part-1

Ø Types of research?

v Types   of     research: application    perspective

1.   PURE RESEARCH/ FUNDAMENTAL RESEARCH:
·      It is a basic approach which is for the sake of knowledge.  Fundamental research is usually carried on in a laboratory or other sterile environment, sometimes with animals.
·      Basic researches involve the development of theory.  It is not concerned with practical applicability and most closely resembles the laboratory conditions and controls usually associated with scientific research.
·      It is also concerned with the development, examination, verification and refinement of research methods, procedures, techniques and tools that form the body of research methodology.
·      It is concerned establishing general principles of learning.
For example, much basic research has been conducted with animals to determine principles of reinforcement and their effect on learning.  Like the experiment of skinner on cats gave the principle of conditioning and reinforcement.
2.APPLIED RESEARCH: -
·      The Basic type of research, which has no immediate or the planned application may later result in further research of an applied nature.
·      Aims to solve an immediate practical problem, is referred to as applied research.
·      collection   of information about various aspects of a situation, issue, problem      or phenomenon so that the          information gathered can be        used in other ways – such as for policy formulation, administration and the enhancement of understanding of a phenomenon.
